About Ahd Child
Lyricist and producer Ahd Child seamlessly blends the east coast hip-hop of his youth with the electronic music that captivated him as a young adult. Known for his thoughtful and intricate lyrics, he uses rap as a powerful storytelling medium, crafting vastly different narratives with each track.
Ahd Child (pronounced ‘odd child’) emerged into the Philadelphia Hip-Hop scene in the early 2000s, inspired by fellow ThorTakeover member Godhead the General to take music seriously. Simultaneously, he immersed himself in Philly’s vibrant House music scene, becoming a regular presence on the city’s dance floors. This dual influence shaped his debut album Meeting of Minds (2006), a celebration of collaboration featuring artists he’d worked with, learned with, and gained inspiration from up to that point. While the album focused on electronic music, Ahd Child’s follow-up, Reverse Psychology (2007), showcased his talent as a lyrical storyteller. From 2009 to 2010 he embraced his experimental side with Nothing Expected, an anything-goes project releasing a series of singles that defied categorization.
After a 14-year hiatus, Ahd Child returned in 2024 with Awake, a single that reaffirms his hip-hop roots while marking a fresh chapter in his journey. Driven by his enduring love for creating, he continues to write and record, exploring the limitless boundaries of his artistry.
